Composer Eugen Doga became an honorary member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. 03.06.2017.

A great gift for the academician and composer Eugen Doga for his 80th birthday.

Maestro Doga became an honorary member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Academia Scientiarum Et Artium Europaea) in the Arts class.

The official ceremony of presenting the Diploma and pin of an honorary member of the prestigious forum took place on March 4, 2007 at the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, Austria. Maestro was granted this honorary title along with 85 other new members representing seven classes of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. The honorary title candidates stood out due to their excellency in the field of science, their dedication and their promotion of European values and standards as well as their part in strengthening the decisive role of science and art in the country and in Europe.

Honorary insignia was presented by the president of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts Professor and Doctor Felix Unger, an honorary member of the Moldova Academy of Science.

The event in the cultural center of Austria was held as part of the Symposium on nanotechnologies, in which scientists from various countries took place along with the Academy’s senators. The event was graced by the attendance of Austria’s highest administration members as well as officials of different countries: ministers, vice-ministers and ambassadors.

The ceremony started with the Academy hymn, “Gaudeamus Igitur”, after which a moment of silence was held to honor the memory of the founding fathers of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.

In his speech, president Felix Unger congratulated the new members, encouraging the new and old members of the European Academy to take active part in social, cultural and economic life, especially emphasizing environment protection. At the same time, Professor Unger noted that in the last few years the weight and significance of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts has increased significantly and not only due to the quantity of new members, which reached 1800, but also thanks to the inquiries that have been received from other countries, not only European but also foreign. That is why he suggested the Academy members be more active in their specific fields, so that the Academy may become more notable on the European and international level.

Composer Eugen Doga was accepted as a member of the European Academy thanks to the suggestion of George Duca, president of the Academy of Science of Moldova, until recently, the only Moldovan member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. In relations to this, we would like to note that in December of 2014 six Moldovan scientists and famous personalities became honorary members of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts: Ion Bostan, Mihai Chimpoi, Eugen Doga, TeodorFurdui, ValeriuRudik, Aurelian Danila.

When asked how Maestro Doga feels regarding this honorary title, he replied that it mostly intimidates him. “When I am presented a diploma or people applaud during a concert, I always hope that nobody will be disappointed and leave the concert hall with that feeling,” said the academician.

“Gaining admirers”, says the Maestro,“is surely hard and difficult work for a performer; and losing them means to lose it all.” Maestro thanked the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for his initiative and also expressed his gratitude to all who had supported his promotion at the European Science and Arts Forum.

Composer Eugen Doga presented the president of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts Felix Uger with his last album entitled “A Waterfall of Wonders” that consists of two CDs and had been recently released by TVR Moldova in honor of the Maestro’s jubilee.

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is the highest science forum in Europe and a transnational cross-discipline organization. It was founded in Salzburg, Austria, in 1990 and is a symbol of the spiritual unity of Europe. The Academic Forum includes 1800 persons within seven classes: Humanities, Medicine, Art, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Business and Law, Technical Sciences and World Religions. It is renowned for its 12 protectors, 50 senators and 29 Nobel Prize laureates.

Among the participants of the official ceremony dedicated to the presentation of honorary member insignia was Professor-Doctor Victor Tsvirkun, coordinator of the Humanities and Arts department of the National Academy of Moldova, of which academician and composer Eugen Doga is a member.
